Governance Overview

Orbinum Network employs a Phased Governance Model designed to ensure rapid development and stability during the initial network launch, while progressively transitioning to community control as the ecosystem matures.

Governance Phases

Phase 1: Development & Launch (Current)

During this initial phase, governance is closed and managed exclusively by the Orbinum Team. This centralization is temporary and necessary to:

  • Ensure the rapid and secure delivery of core products (Orbits, AgentStudio, MinerHub, SDK).
  • Maintain network stability during the critical bootstrapping period.
  • Respond immediately to any technical issues or security vulnerabilities.

Key Characteristics:

  • Proposals: Only the Orbinum Team can submit and implement proposals.
  • Treasury: Managed directly by the team to fund development and ecosystem growth.
  • Orbits: New Orbits are launched and managed by the team.

Phase 2: Open Governance (Future)

Once the core product suite is fully delivered and stable, the network will transition to Phase 2. In this phase, governance opens to the community, with a Governance Committee acting as a safeguard.

Key Characteristics:

  • Proposals: Stakeholders can submit proposals for review.
  • Committee Review: A Governance Committee (appointed by the Orbinum Team) evaluates all proposals before they go to a vote.
  • Community Voting: Proposals approved by the Committee are voted on by token holders.

Governance Structure (Phase 2)

1. The Governance Committee

A specialized body appointed by the Orbinum Team to ensure all proposals align with the network's long-term vision and security standards.

  • Role: Gatekeeper for all governance actions.
  • Powers: Evaluate, approve, or reject proposals before they reach the referendum stage.
  • Composition: Technical experts, ecosystem partners, and community leaders appointed by the Orbinum Team.

2. The Referendum (Token Holders)

The final decision-making mechanism. Once a proposal passes Committee review, it is submitted to a network-wide vote.

  • Powers: Vote on Committee-approved proposals.
  • Voting: Stake-weighted voting with conviction multipliers.

Voting Mechanics (Phase 2)

Stake + Conviction

Your voting power is determined by your stake and your willingness to lock it.

  • 1x Power: Vote with no lock.
  • 2x Power: Vote + 8 day lock.
  • 3x Power: Vote + 16 day lock.
  • ...
  • 6x Power: Vote + 128 day lock.

This mechanism ensures that long-term holders have a greater say in the network's future than short-term speculators.
