Wallets & Accounts
Orbinum Network supports two types of accounts, allowing you to choose the wallet that best fits your needs.
Account Types
Substrate Accounts
Native Orbinum accounts for staking, governance, and network operations.
Address Format: Starts with numbers and letters (e.g., 5GrwvaEF5zXb26Fz9rcQpDWS57CtERHpNehXCPcNoHGKutQY)
What You Can Do:
- Stake tokens to earn rewards
- Vote on governance proposals
- Run validators or miners
- Native token transfers
Recommended Wallet: SubWallet (mobile & browser)
Ethereum Accounts
EVM-compatible accounts for smart contracts and dApps.
Address Format: Starts with 0x (e.g., 0x742d35Cc6634C0532925a3b844Bc9e7595f0bEb)
What You Can Do:
- Deploy and interact with smart contracts
- Use existing Ethereum tools and dApps
- Connect with MetaMask
- Work with ERC-20 tokens
Recommended Wallet: MetaMask (mobile & browser)
Unified Balance
Both account types access the same $ON token balance. You can use Substrate accounts for staking and Ethereum accounts for smart contracts—all with the same funds.
Getting Started
Option 1: SubWallet (Substrate)
Best for: Staking, governance, and native network features
Setup:
- Download SubWallet from subwallet.app
- Create a new wallet and save your recovery phrase securely
- Select "Orbinum Network" from the network list
- Your Substrate address is ready to use
Example Address: 5GrwvaEF5zXb26Fz9rcQpDWS57CtERHpNehXCPcNoHGKutQY
Option 2: MetaMask (Ethereum)
Best for: Smart contracts, EVM dApps, and Ethereum compatibility
Setup:
- Download MetaMask from metamask.io
- Create a wallet and save your secret recovery phrase
- Add Orbinum Network manually:
- Network Name: Orbinum Network
- RPC URL:
https://rpc.orbinum.network(TBD) - Chain ID:
1234(TBD) - Currency Symbol:
ON - Block Explorer:
https://explorer.orbinum.network(TBD)
Note: Network parameters are subject to change before mainnet launch. Always verify current values in official documentation.
Example Address: 0x742d35Cc6634C0532925a3b844Bc9e7595f0bEb
Security Best Practices
Protect Your Recovery Phrase
- Write it down on paper—never store digitally
- Keep it private—never share with anyone
- Store securely—use a safe or safety deposit box
- Never enter it on websites (except when restoring your wallet)
General Security
- Use strong passwords unique to each wallet
- Verify addresses before sending transactions
- Bookmark official wallet websites
- Keep your wallet software updated
- Be cautious of phishing attempts
For Large Amounts
Consider using a hardware wallet like Ledger for enhanced security. Hardware wallets keep your private keys offline, protecting them from online threats.
Which Wallet Should I Use?
Choose SubWallet if you want to:
- Stake $ON tokens for rewards
- Participate in governance voting
